A bad time to attack world trade


A new report in The New York Times argues that “the anti-globalization drive that is spreading across the Western world may be coming at exactly the wrong time” — when the costs have already been borne (partly in the form of lost working class jobs) and the benefits were just becoming apparent. The question is even more pertinent as President Trump has signaled that he wants to slap China with tariffs on a number of goods and the U.S. has sought to renegotiate or even terminate agreements like NAFTA. • What’s your take on the state of world trade?
