Amazon ads gaining ground on Google
The explosive growth of Amazon’s advertising business could pose a rare threat to Google. A cluster of advertisers are funneling “more than half” of the funds they traditionally spend with Google’s search engine to Amazon ads, according to CNBC. The shift equates to hundreds of millions of dollars in spending. Google is a colossus in the U.S. digital advertising world, amassing about 37 percent of digital ad budgets this year. But Amazon has “made huge inroads” in advertising, particularly in consumer packaged goods, and is quickly emerging as the most credible threat to Google’s cash cow advertising business.
