Companies are stepping in for colleges

A growing number of employers are finding that their college-educated new hires lack necessary skills. So they’re launching education programs, offering classes in academic disciplines such as physics, algebra and writing, in addition to guidance on how to do well in specific roles, reports The Wall Street Journal. Tightening labor markets means that employers who might otherwise hold out for candidates with the right skills are opting to train those with potential instead.
