Walmart is putting robots to work

Robot workers are coming to Walmart aisles. The company is expanding its shelf-scanning robot program to 50 stores across four states, according Business Insider. The machines, made by developer Bossa Nova, can scan an aisle in about 90 seconds — according to BI, the robots can check for “out-of-stock items, things that were put in the wrong place by customers, incorrect prices, and wrong or missing labels.” Walmart also tested an advanced, self-driving scrubber in its stores — the devices come equipped with some of the same technology used in self-driving cars, with cameras, sensors, algorithms and Lidar for navigational mapping. The retailer said the robots won’t replace human workers.
