Whisky bottle sold for record $1.1M
A Scottish auction house has smashed the sales record for a 750-milliliter bottle of single malt whisky, collecting a whopping $1.1 million. The exceedingly rare 60-year-old bottle of Macallan Valerio Adami 1926, described as “the Holy Grail of the dark alcoholic spirit,” was one of a mere 24 bottles produced. The whereabouts of the other 23 are unknown, pushing up the value of the auction. The Asian buyer who made the winning bid chose to remain anonymous.
